the script allowed Johnny to fully embrace his inner Hunter. I respect that Paul Kemp was just Thompson’s ‘alter ego’, but there is no need to take that much Hunter out of any of his personalities. Drowning in rum, politics, cause, and internal conflict is far too accurate to throw away the consequential swagger, stagger and genius insanity. It’s worth checking out, but don’t expect to find the fear and loathing you know and love.
